Neroli Essential Oil- The Fragrance of Orange Blossoms

Imagine the fragrance of orange blossoms drifting toward you on a warm, summer breeze. Feel the calm overtake you, relax into a blissful state. That is the power of Neroli essential oil. Neroli oil has been around for thousands of years, traveled from ancient China to India, Africa, Arabia, Italy, Morocco and Spain. The name Neroli is said to have come from an Italian princess in the mid-1600’s, Anna-Marie de la Tremoille, the Countess of Neroli. She is said to have bathed in the orange blossom oil, worn it as a perfume, and even scented her gloves with her favorite fragrance. Today, Neroli essential oil is produced in many countries in Europe, Egypt, and in Haiti. It takes 1000 lbs. of orange blossom buds, picked at the exact time they begin to open, to make just 1 lb. of Neroli essential oil. It’s precious, and the aroma is amazing!

Neroli essential oil has many properties that make it beneficial for treating the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual realms. Here are a few ways you can use Neroli oil in your life:

  1. Repair and Regenerate Skin: Neroli oil has been found to regenerate skin cells and improve skin elasticity. It’s effective for scars, preventing and repairing stretch marks, softening wrinkles and age lines, minimizing pores and regulating oil production, repairing varicose veins and broken capillaries, and smoothing skin. It can be used in lotions and oils, and a few drops will go a long way!
  2. Relaxant: Neroli is an anti-depressant, relaxes muscle spasms, heart palpitations, the effects of shock, headaches, neuralgia, vertigo, menstrual cramps, and on the digestive system, including spasmodic diarrhea, colitis, and IBS. Use Neroli in steam mist vaporizers, bath water, or on the wrists, temples, bottoms of the feet, or abdomen, for immediate relaxation and relief from tension, anxiety and cramping.
  3. Aphrodisiac: The sweet floral scent of Neroli oil causes an increase in circulation, and creates thoughts of love and desire. Neroli was often used as an aphrodisiac in the Roman Empire by many people. The soldiers were forbidden to use Neroli, however, as the thoughts and desires it might enflame could distract them from their duties.

Tip: Keep a drop of this exotic oil on a cotton ball and tuck inside your pillowcase, for instant relaxation and feelings of peace.

Blending: Neroli blends easily with many other essential oils, like Basil, Lavender, Lemon, Grapefruit and Clove
