Hyssop derived its name from a Greek word that translates to good smelling herb. It has a pleasant aroma that has long been used for its medicinal purposes. It became very popular in the Middle Ages for its therapeutic properties.

Mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible as one of the bitter herbs, used by Hippocrates
