After the mid 1800’s, Tangiers was the port city that shipped a great number of the oranges to the USA, and the Americans called this deep orange Mandarin variety “Tangerines.”
Tangerines share most properties with Mandarin oranges but have no pips. The oil is more concentrated with an intense in fresh, sweet aroma. Instead of steam-distillation like most essential oils, Tangerine oil is extracted by cold-pressing the oil-rich peel.
