The Mandarin Orange can be traced back to the wild oranges of India over 3000 years ago. It was carried overland to China, where it was prized for its flavor and many health benefits, and has been widely used in both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine ever since. In 1805 it made its way with explorers to England, then Italy, the Mediterranean and Africa where oranges began to be cultivated and varieties expanded as hybrids.
The English coined the name, based on the orange robes of the educated Chinese and public officials they met in their travels to China. In the mid 1800’s, the Mandarin Orange came across the Atlantic to New Orleans, then Florida and California, where they are still popular today, as a fruit and for their aromatic essential oil. To extract the essential oil, the peel is cold-pressed, and retains its fresh, citrusy aroma.
Learn how you can enjoy the wonderful aroma and benefits of Mandarin Orange essential oil. Here are just a few ways:
Sedative: Mandarin oil is the most calming of all the citrus oils, especially for children and teens. It instantly calms overexcited kids, taking them from hyperactive to relaxed and ready for naps or bedtime without a fuss. It does work on adults too- for insomnia, anxiety and mental stress. Just rub a drop in between your palms and inhale the wonderful aroma, or add to your steam mist vaporizer and keep the calm for your whole family!
Purifies Blood and Lymph: Mandarin Orange is a stimulant to blood circulation, which detoxes and purifies the organs and lymph. It supports the entire body’s balanced function, preventing conditions like acne, arthritis, infections, colds and flu from forming, and promoting wellness.
Antiseptic: Like many citrus essential oils, Mandarin Orange is an effective antiseptic for the body, for wounds, cuts, bites and burns. It also makes a wonderful disinfecting additive to household cleaners…and your house will so good!
