Niaouli essential oil is closely related to Tea Tree essential oil. It has long been used in aromatherapy as a remedy for pretty much any ailment and is known to have a special affinity for the respiratory system.

Latin Binomial:  Melaleuca quinquenervia

History

Leaves used to be bruised in water and the liquid was then consumed to relieve headaches, colds, and in times of general sickness. In France, pharmaceuticals were made containing niaouli up until the1980s.
