German Chamomile is a very fragrant herb that is mainly produced in Hungary. It has been used since antiquity as a medicinal remedy and is commonly used in cosmetic production and as an herbal tea. German Chamomile is a dark blue essential oil that is stronger aromatically, and more medicinal smelling, than Roman Chamomile.

Latin Binomial:  Matricaria recutica

Extraction Method:  Steam

Countries of Origin:  Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Russia, Germany, Belgium, Spain

Applications

Aromatherapy Uses:
Teething pain, indigestion, colic, stimulates leukocyte production, wounds, abscesses, infected / ingrown nails, eczema, urticarial, dry/itchy skin, muscular aches/pains, inflamed joints, sprains, bursitis, inflamed tendons, PMS, spasmodic dysmenorrhea, UTI, cystitis or reduce enlarged capillaries.

Used in aromatherapy to help ease emotional symptoms of:
Nervous tension, insomnia, headaches also counteracts agitation.

History

Chamomile flowers have been used since antiquity for digestive disorders and skin irritations. The flowers are extensively used as an herbal tea and the oil is used a lot in cosmetics.
