Japanese Peppermint is also known as Wild Mint or Corn Mint. It carries many of the same properties as Mentha piperita but is slightly less strong in aroma. It can be used as a substitute for peppermint in any blend.

Applications

Used in aromatherapy for the symptomatic relief of:

Muscle pain, bruises, contusions, joint pain, insect bites, myalgia, neuralgia, dyspepsia, nausea, stomach pains, diarrhea, flatulence, vomiting, car sickness, increase blood flow, clarity, mental fatigue, inability to concentrate, circulatory congestion, headaches, migraine, colds, influenza, fever, sinus congestion/infection/inflammation, itching, skin irritations.

Used in aromatherapy to help ease emotional symptoms of:

Clarity, mental fatigue, overcome feelings of inferiority, enhance concentration, digestion of new ideas

History

The Greeks and Romans used to crown themselves with peppermint at their feasts and peppermint was also used to flavor their sauces and wines. Mints have been used medicinally for thousands of years due to their affinity for the digestive system.
