Clove oil is another spice oil that is both well-known and widely used for both culinary and medicinal purposes. It’s widely used in aromatherapy to help with conditions of the mouth and is a main flavouring ingredient in many commercial mouth washes.

Name of Oil:  Clove Bud

Latin Binomial:  Syzgium aromaticum

Extraction Method:  Steam

Countries of Origin:  Madagascar, Indonesia, Tanzania

Scent Profile:  Warm, spicy, bitter, slight wood notes

Parts used in distillation:  Buds

Oil Characteristics:  Pale yellow, medium, strong
