This week’s recipe is a little different. It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, and we are confident that you have either already planned a wonderful feast for your family or, worst case scenario, you can find some excellent recipes with the touch of a button.
So, this week the recipe that we’re offering you is a recipe of gratitude: The Thanksgiving Address. It is an indigenous tradition that has been shared with the world by the Haudenosuanee tribe.
The Thanksgiving Address is an acknowledgment of the natural world and how it nourishes and sustains us as humans and is usually recited before and after any gathering of people, be it official business with hundreds of people present, or a simple gathering of friends and family, no matter how many people are present.
This Thanksgiving, we invite you to take a few moments to either recite the Address, honoring the indigenous peoples who stewarded this land before us, or create your own version of a letter of gratitude to the natural world.
