It is our goal to add to our blog regularly, but as life seems to be extremly busy, we will just do what we can.
In the first series, we will look at three common circulatory ailments. Each entry we will look at additional ailments pertaining to the circulatory system and eventually go on to examine common ailments of every system in the body. I hope you will benefit from the information shared here!
There are many essential oils that can be applied in a variety of different ways for specific physical, psychological and emotional ailments. It is important to have a balanced blend whenever possible. Balanced, meaning, a Top Note, a Middle Note, and a Base Note. It is also important that these oils compliment each other, both in their chemical structures and their properties. As a general rule, Lavender can be added to any blend and its’ properties will enhance the effects of the other essential oils used. For example, Niaouli is very effective for sunburns, but when you add lavender the effect on the skin will be enhanced. There are also cases where certain oils blended together make for a much better blend for a specific ailment, therefore it is best to use them together. For example, mandarin, is much more effective to treat PMS, when it is combined with other citrus oils such as tangerine, bergamot, or orange.
The part of the plant that is used to make the essential oil, generally determines what ailment, or condition that particular oil will be useful for. There are exceptions to this, however it is a good guideline to go by. They breakdown as follows:
Peel: Skin, Antidepressant, Digestive
Leaf: Respiratory, Digestive
Seeds & Berries: Digestive, Nerve Tonic
Wood & Resins: Skin, Bones, Blood
Root: Digestive
Flowers: Skin, Antidepressant, Nerve Tonic
The following recipes are for common ailments and are based on my own experience and research. They are not meant to replace the advise of a medical professional. Whenever you are suffering from a serious illness, always seek professional advise. Traditional medicine cannot always be used in conjunction with essential oils or alternative medicine, so it is best to stay informed on all your options and keep closely in tuned with what is happening in your own body.
